Junior Regional Orchestra Student Audition Letter 2016


Junior Regional Orchestra auditions are Saturday, October 1, 2016


Audition Location: Lake Ridge Middle School,
12350 Mohican Road,
Woodbridge, VA 22192

Date: Saturday, October 1, 2016


Eligible Students: 7th, 8th, and 9th grade orchestra students are eligible to audition if they are
enrolled in their school and are regular performing members of their school orchestra program.



Registration: On-line registration begins on Friday, September 16, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. Once open, you can register here:

After your teacher has checked your Student Registration Commitment Form for the required signatures, your teacher will give you the password you will need in order to do your on-line registration.

On-line registration ends at 3:00 p.m. Friday, September 30, 2016.


Audition Cost: $5.25 per student. No checks accepted. Only exact cash or money order.


Students are to bring the completed STUDENT COMMITMENT FORM to the audition.


Audition consists of the following:

Scales: 2 Octaves, D-Major (basses drop down to E string) and G- harmonic minor.
Scales are to be bowed separately with the top note repeated upon descending.
Quarter note equal to 96 beats per minute.
SCALES MUST BE MEMORIZED

Prepared Piece: “Siciliano and Allegro” by Johann Galliard
Sight-Reading: There will be a sight reading component to the audition.


Additional Information
* Selection is based on the student audition scores.
* Instrumentation for the Orchestra is as follows: 44 violins, 16 violas, 14 cellos, 8 basses
* Auditions are tabulated by the assigned adjudicators.
* Results of the audition will be available from the student’s teacher on the following Monday.
* The event will take place on November 4 & 5, 2016 at Massaponax High School in Fredericksburg, VA
* Students who successfully audition will receive a copy of the Regional Music from their teacher.
