Solo & Ensemble

Battlefield High School is hosting the Orchestra Solo and Ensemble Event on Wednesday, April 19, 2017. This performance opportunity is meant to be a positive and motivating experience for the string student.

The fee for this event is $9.00 per student per performance. This fee pays for the cost of hiring judges and medals. Please note that each student must pay the fee for each performance they participate in.

The string student prepares solo or ensemble music to perform before a judge. The student is assigned a specific time to perform for the judge. The judge rates the performance according to the student’s
individual level. Musical aspects such as tone, intonation, technique, and interpretation are among
criteria that the judge rates the performance on.

The ratings given by the judge are as follows:
I = Superior – Medal Rating
II = Excellent – Medal Rating
III = Good
IV = Fair
V = Poor

If you are interested in participating, download the following forms. If you need assistance selecting a piece of music, please see Mrs. St. Pierre.
